Do you ever have those moments where you feel a feeling and ask yourself “why, do I feel so…(insert strange feeling here)?” and then remember it’s a full moon. That was me today. I had all this buzzy motivational energy and knew full well it wasn’t realistic to be planning to do so much all at once and yet there I was making grand plans. Took me a minute to put two and two together.
This Full Moon is an interesting one, being in Virgo it brings earthy, pragmatic energy. A drive to make plans and work towards goals. Balancing with the dreamy Piscean energy the Sun is currently in, it asks to be realistic or at least try to be realistic with our aims. Virgo is all about critical thinking, analysis and being grounded whereas Pisces has it’s head in the clouds; dreaming big dreams and fantastical goals.
This duality or balance (depending on which way you look at it) can be harnessed for great things. If you have those big goals and dreams for yourself; the full moon in Virgo is here to help take realistic steps towards it. Bringing the fantastical to the tangible. The symbol for Virgo is a maiden bringing in abundance which I feel is fitting; the young, inspired, youthful energy with grounded determination and capable mindset. Now is good time to lay out and speak of our plans as we also have a link between communicative Mercury and expansive Jupiter which adds to feeling of freedom, positive thinking and an ability to put it all in motion.
Virgo is here to remind us that although anything is possible, it is important to stay grounded and critical in making steps. The energy of spring and ‘planting the seeds’ for the year ahead is impossible to ignore. Especially as we have seen the sun for the first time in ages here in the UK. But don’t get carried away just yet. Be mindful of what can be achieved at this moment. What is the first step? What do you need to do first of all? Prior preparation prevents piss poor performance and all that.
Full Moon energy is all about releasing what no longer serves us and this one is no different. By clearing out the old we make space for the new. So, what do we need to let go of? Maybe it’s unrealistic ideals, unachievable deadlines or that pressure to be productive all the time. Full Moons are also a time to forgive, Virgo is analytical and helpful and Pisces is empathetic and sensitive, often prone to procrastination and day dreaming. Perhaps this full moon is asking us to forgive ourselves for not achieving. rather than beating ourselves up we could use this energy to make new action plans. I feel like there was huge pressure to be productive in lockdown; learn a language, bake banana bread, achieve, unlock and level up. That’s great and all but what about just getting through? What about staying afloat? If you’re one of the people looking at the dawning light at the end of the lockdown tunnel with dread because you haven’t achieved all of the things you said you would. This full moon is saying. be realistic, give yourself a break, forgive yourself for doing what you could and not what you dreamt of doing.
It can feel tempting to rush ahead with new plans at this time but winter isn’t quite over yet. Sit on them for a bit, plot your course. Dream big of course, aim as high as you like (Virgo is all about positive thinking) but make proper plans. Shake off and forgive what needs to be forgiven. Release what no longer serves you and clear space for all the abundance coming your way.
As always I recommend using divination to help you identify what that direction to point yourself in (look on my insta for upcoming tarot spreads). You can find a basic Full Moon releasing ritual to support you here. Dream big and make space, big things are coming our way in terms of opportunity but we need to stay grounded and level headed about it.
